Welcome to your yoga journey!
We are delighted you've chosen to join us. You're probably wondering what to expect.
Are you new to yoga? Returning after a break? This page will guide you through what to do when you get to the studio and choosing classes you might enjoy.
Beginner
Arrival
- Try to arrive ten minutes before the class starts.
- Remove your shoes in the welcome area when you arrive at the studio. Please sign in on the sign-up sheet.
- Store your belongings in the cubbies in the welcome area. Remember to silence your cell phone!
- You can bring your own mat or borrow one of ours. Try not to step on other people's mats as you cross the floor.
- Be sure to introduce yourself to the teacher if this is the first time you have attended his or her class. Mention any health concerns you may have.
During Class
- Practice compassion for yourself and rest in child's pose whenever you need to.
- Blankets, straps, blocks and other props are available to assist you and adapt your practice to your body. Ask the teacher for suggestions to make poses more effective for you. It's your practice and we want you to get the most out of it.
- Limit conversation during practice and be mindful of shared space, particularly during popular classes. It is perfectly fine to move to the back or front of your mat to accommodate spacious poses in a crowded room.
After Class
- Rest in savasana as long as you like.
- Be respectful of other students by refraining from starting a conversation until they indicate readiness by making eye contact and by confining conversation in low tones until everyone has finished
- Neatly put away any props you used.
